A retired Lieutenant Colonel with the Michigan Air National Guard, Bill Johnston joins The Cronin Law Firm as Chief Financial Officer. As a Commissioned Officer with the 127th Wing at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Bill served as the Chief Financial Officer for the largest Air National Guard installation in the United States, where he implemented and administered laws, procedures, regulations, and directives pertaining to all aspects of financial management.
From there, he served as Chief Executive Officer for the 2,500-member Air National Guard unit as well as Executive Advisor to the Air Commander in the management and administration of all services essential to the operation of the Wing. In 2007 he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, serving as Operations Officer/ Commander. Bill received numerous awards and honors throughout his career, including a Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, and a State Legion of Merit Award. He also received three Sustained Superior Performance Awards.
In addition to attending Squadron Officer School and Air Command Staff College, Bill has a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Finance from Western Michigan University. His extensive leadership, management, logistics, problem-solving, and financial accounting experience lead him to work in the private sector as Finance Manager for the non-profit, then on to his current position as the Financial Manager for the Cronin Law Firm. Bill enjoys golf, skiing, and hanging out with his two dogs Murphy and Cricket.
